One of your child's favorite stories will come to life on stage in an outdoor theater experience from Metro Theater Company. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, from the iconic Eric Carle picture books, features more than 75 larger-than-life puppets, friends from other Eric Carle picture books, including Brown Bear, Brown Bear, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, The Very Lonely Firefly and more.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar marks the return to live theater for Metro Theater Company after a year of exclusively digital programming. The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been performed more than 2,000 times worldwide, and now comes to Kirkwood Performing Arts Center with an all-St. Louis cast of performers.
The show will be performed on an outdoor stage on the lawn. Audiences will be seated on the gated lawn in socially distant pods sized to accommodate groups of 2 to 8 people. A virtual streaming option of the St. Louis production is also available.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is a dazzling, acclaimed production featuring a menagerie of more than 75 larger-than-life puppets and iconic Eric Carle characters. Audiences can revisit these timeless classics with the young ones in their lives at St. Louis celebrates the return of live professional theater.
This music-filled experience, coupled with unique and enchanting puppets, evokes nostalgia and whimsy in audience members of all ages. The English-Spanish bilingual production makes it a joy for language learners of all ages as well! Metro Theater Company Artistic Director Julia Flood directs The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show. The cast includes Jamie McKittrick, Hailey Medrano, and Gaby Rodriguez.
Performances are being held April 25 - May 23, Wednesdays through Sundays. Performances times vary: 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. In-person performances will be held at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center.
Outdoor seating pods are available for groups of 2-6, which pricing based on the number of people in each pod. Pods begin at $56 for two.
Online virtual streaming is $20 and is available April 18 - May 23.
